Moustiers Panorama

A far view of Moustiers-Ste-Marie, where I lived for eight months. The town is built in between two limestone cliffs and has a Crusader legend of dubious authenticity associated with it. The legend has to do with separated lovers and the suspension of a star over the village as a vow to return, so intrepid town boosters in the 1950's decided to suspend a star on a chain between the two limestone crags that overlook the village. Moustiers tends to ride the razor's edge between completely hokey and shockingly beautiful, since the red sunsets on all that limestone are a wonder to behold. And say what you will about the star, but it certainly catches the afternoon light.
