Sarah With Laptop
Oil on Daler Board, 10" x 14"
May, 1998
This is a quick portrait study I did in a Paris hotel room. Note the old-model Powerbook and the folded-over bolster, one of those infuriating Tootsie-roll-shaped cushions that many French hotels use in place of a proper pillow. Sarah was working on a term paper at the time and I liked the strange effect of the blue screen light on her face. It didn't hurt that the hotel room had such a strange liverish bedspread and unmatching wallpaper.
